Answers to some questions we have received regarding our site.
We have received a few messages with certain questions about various aspects of our site; such as who we are, why we are hosting this site, etc. To save valuable time, this page will serve as our generic reply.
1) Our site is not a business although we do publish links to business sites operated by Jehovah's Witnesses. Everything available from our download center is free. Our Illustrations Library does rely on a commercial program, much like Microsoft Word is needed to open and edit a document created using that particular software program. Other than that, there's no necessity to spend money for our materials. We do not solicit or accept donations for the costs associated with keeping the site open. If it becomes too expensive we will simply shut down.
2) Our privacy. We have very deliberately chosen not to post our names, congregation names and other personal information on this site. Also, we do not answer messages asking for this information. We have taken steps to ensure the domain does not have any personal data publicly available. We adamantly feel our privacy is a personal choice. If any individual is concerned about our unwillingness to provide such information, then that person should not use our site. We truly believe in the principle of look and decide. After viewing our site, decide personally if what we offer is worthwhile.
3) Theocratic guidelines. In times past some visitors have questioned if our site is operating beyond theocratic guidelines. If we felt that was true, we would not have created the site, much less keep it open. We firmly believe our site does not violate any published counsel available to all of Jehovah's Witnesses.
4) Objectionable content: If you find a link that is objectionable, let us know. Sometimes individuals use free services that "push" advertisements onto their page. Occasionally, we have removed links due to the contents of such advertisements. We diligently try to keep our site controversy free.
5) Popularity. Whew, that's some heavy writing :-) Despite the above, our site remains one of the most popular anywhere, consistently ranking in the top 30,000 + or - (as ranked by Netcraft). We regularly deliver over one million downloads annually to more than 1,800,000 regular and semi-regular visitors covering a wide spectrum of brothers and sisters from 185+ countries.
We have received numerous compliments and thank you messages. Based on the positive results, we plan to continue operations. We have more projects planned and we think the vast majority of our visitors will be pleased.
