Our audio clips are a bit of theocratic history.   In the 1930's and 40's, Jehovah's Witnesses were known for carrying portable phonographs from door to door.   These were wind up devices that would play a large 78 RPM record.   The presentations were about 3 to 4 minutes in length.   Often Brother J. F. Rutherford was featured with his dynamic speaking style.   Other brothers were used as well.

We have access to some of these old records and are able to digitize them using a modern turntable and then washing the sound using special software.   This removes most of the scratchy  noises and makes them sound pretty good considering their age.

In addition to door to door presentations, we also have Brother C. T. Russell introducing the Photodrama of Creation.     Other clips include songs recorded by the Watch Tower Male Quartet when WBBR was operated by the Society.    Of note is that Brother Fred Franz was the second tenor in this group.

Rounding out the selections are some musical recordings by Sister Edith White playing the Watch Tower organ.

Give these a listen.   Some are quite dramatic and give a flavor of what being one of Jehovah's Witnesses was like in those days.   That phonograph could get pretty heavy by the end of the day.

The MP3 format can be played on most computers with appropriate software.  This includes Windows Media Player, WinAmp and other MP3 player programs.   Also portable devices can hold these recordings and play back through earphones.    If you have CD burning software, the files can also be burned to an audio CD and played on many of the jam boxes available.

To download these, please go to Audio Clips in the download center.   Each file has a full description and there are several categories.   If you have something to share, please upload it for review.

Sharing techie things with our brotherhood.
